The Vinopic Score

Our unique Vinopic Score

Every wine we sell is outstanding because it has been approved and scored for how superb it tastes and how well-made it is (two key areas of wine quality). This is carried out by two highly respected wine experts.

First, our Master of Wine, Rosemary George, tastes and rates every single wine. If, and only if, she approves, our scientist and wine expert, Roger Corder, then analyses and rates the wine to see how well-made it is.

Their ratings add up to our Vinopic Score. The higher this unique Score, the better the wine!

Vinopic Wines is the only wine retailer to take such an in-depth and rigorous approach to selecting the best wines to sell.

The team behind the company

We started Vinopic Wines because we felt there was too much guesswork in having to choose from such a large selection of wines available today and with so much variation in quality.

How can you compare wines without turning to price? How can you judge quality without detailed research into the wine? How do you really know exactly what’s inside a bottle? How can you be sure you'll choose a wine guaranteed to impress?

It can be hard to see beyond a wall of wine labels these days. We wanted a more reliable and objective way of identifying wines that taste special and are well-made.

Wine quality is key for the entire Vinopic Wines team. Santiago (Chief Executive) and Lorenzo (COO), from Malta and Italy, share a Mediterranean passion for life and a love of the very best food and wines. For them, dinner simply isn’t dinner if not accompanied by an excellent glass of wine with family and friends! They will happily spend hours discussing with wine experts Rosemary and Roger what to consider for Vinopic Wines’ catalogue.

The results from Rosemary’s systematic tasting and Roger’s scientific analyses add up to a Vinopic Score. This unique Score helps you discover and choose, with confidence and ease, wines you will want to enjoy with family and friends.

So instead of being faced with the challenge of a wall of wine, you can now select from a rack of the best. For instance, why have to choose between ten Sauvignon Blanc wines from New Zealand when we feel only one of them really deserves your attention!

What the critics say

"Vinopic's scoring system is the most laudable attempt to honestly champion better wine consumption that I have seen for some time." Charles Saunders, Quaffable wine blog

"...the Vinopic Score; a scientific way of labelling wine inspired by ‘the traffic-labelling scheme for foods... The rating system gives each wine an ‘expert driven quality score.’" Alice Kahrmann, Editor - The Good Web Guide

"By highlighting the difference in what's actually in wine and the important information that's not on wine labels, the aim is to steer consumers to drink better wines." Ant Hodges, Editor - Good Bottle of Wine magazine

"...the reality was much more reassuring and sensible, with the science side of Vinopic focused on production quality." Tom Lewis, The Cambridge Wine Blogger

“What, then, are its [Vinopic’s] points of difference? One of them is that Roger Corder analyses every wine... together with Master of Wine Rosemary George’s input in selecting, describing and scoring the wines.” Andrew Jefford, Feature Writer - Decanter.com

"...vinopic.com has developed its own system to reward wines richest in polyphenols balanced with alcohol levels, residual sugar and sulphites." Olly Smith, TV presenter, Mail on Sunday columnist and wine expert

"I bought, it was very swiftly delivered, I didn't find the wine cheaper elsewhere and I am sure I will use them again." Laura Clay, Honorary Secretary - Association of Wine Educators
