Quite a deep colour. Quite rounded nose, with a fleshy palate. Ripe fruit with a tannic streak. Good balance. Harmonious with good length.

Out where it starts
Rosemary was one of the first women to become a Master of Wine, back in 1979. Achieving this rare accolade involves a rigorous examination and demonstrating detailed wine knowledge.
Rosemary became a freelance wine writer after working in the wine trade for nine years in London and Bordeaux. She is one of the UK’s top wine writers and has written eleven books on wine, contributes to consumer wine magazines around the world, and is a leading judge at the Decanter World Wine Awards (the Oscars of the wine world!).
We want everyone everywhere to be confident in knowing that the wine they select for their dinner table will be special each time and every time. Rosemary has therefore given each wine available here her expert Taste Rating.
Comparing wines based on taste has never been easier!
Learn about Rosemary’s Taste Rating
Hard at work
We know the wines we sell taste outstanding because each has been tasted by our Master of Wine, Rosemary George. No other wine retailer has 100% of their catalogue scored for taste by an MW.
Rosemary’s Taste Rating is combined with Roger Corder’s scientific analyses to give every wine our unique Vinopic Score for overall quality.
Rosemary takes the aroma and character of a wine into account and decides how enjoyable and memorable it is to drink. For example, does the wine reflect the region of provenance? Is it typical of the grape variety or blend? Is it unique? Does it stand out? Would she choose it for dinner, or for some special occasion? At what occasion would she be happy to serve this wine?
Rosemary looks for the wines that raise the bar for all other comparable wines. Any wine that does not meet with her full approval is not sold on Vinopic Wines.

Busy tasting and rating
Rosemary’s Taste Rating is a scoring system out of 20 points. Any wine that Rosemary rates above 18.5 is a truly outstanding wine that is top of its class and fit for state occasions and your most important guests!
Wines between 17 and 18.4 are also very special: Rosemary would be more than happy to enjoy these with friends and family on a special occasion.
Wines between 15.5 and 16.9 are very fine, the sort of wines that still provide something out of the ordinary and make for an everyday treat. Wines rated 14 to 15.4 are enjoyable and much better than what is on offer through many retailers.
And wines lower than 14…well, they are not worth our attention - or yours - and so we will not be featuring them.
