The vineyards of Jurançon are close to the town of Pau and lie in the foothills of the Pyrénées. The principal grape varieties are Gros and Petit Manseng, and you might also find some Gros and Petit Courbu. Petit Manseng is best for the sweet wines of Jurançon, while the dry wines are made predominantly from Gros Manseng. However Jurançon Sec is never firmly dry. This wine keeps you guessing. There is a hint of orange on the nose and some dry honey on the palate, as well as some good acidity and some pithy lemony notes. Altogether very intriguing.
